Could biotin cure your hair loss and help you regrow your hair? Most nutritionists agree that biotin is an essential vitamin for supporting hair growth.

Biotin is a B complex also referred to as vitamin H. It is necessary for cell growth and the metabolism of amino acids. Both of these things make it essential for hair growth as hair is made of protein, and is made up of hair follicles which are rapidly growing cells.

Many hair growth vitamins contain biotin as it strengthens hair and helps it to regrow faster. This can have a positive effect on the hair growth of people suffering from hair loss. It is present in the hair growth vitamin Provillus, as well as most of the vitamins available on the market. Some foods also contain good quantaties of biotin for example egg yolks and liver, however these alone may not provide enough biotin to have an effect on the loss of your hair.

Some shampoos also contain biotin, and claim that this may act against hair loss. However this is probably not the case as the vitamin is not absorbed through skin well.

It is important to note that biotin is a B complex and therefore is classed as a form of Vitamin B. People with blood type A are not able to fully absorb derivatives of vitamin B and therefore higher doses should be taken to avoid hair loss. There are no known side effects of taking more biotin than the daily amount.

In essence, biotin is food for your hair. Whether you are trying to prevent hair loss using natural remedies for hair loss, hair growth vitamins or hair medication, biotin should be a factor you consider.
